Screen Cuba tickets on sale

Tickets have just gone on sale for Screen Cuba: Films to Change the World 2026 which takes place at cinemas in London, Oxford, Pontypridd, Nottingham, Manchester and Leeds from 15 March.

This Festival of Cuban cinema will look at the achievements and challenges of Cuban people through the lenses of their filmmakers since the 1959 Revolution, and present films rarely screened in the UK.

It includes a diverse selection of features, shorts and documentaries, with introductions and Q&As featuring Cuban film specialists.

Features include the revolution’s first comedy Twelve Chairs, Humberto Solás’s iconic feminist trilogy Lucía (1968), Tomás Gutíerrez Alea’s anticolonial masterpiece The Last Supper (1976), the comedy that changed housing policy Juan Carlos Tabío’s House for Swap, Capablanca about Cuba’s world famous chess champion, Jorge Luís Sanchez’s music biopic El Benny about musician Benny Moré, plus recent doc about the passion for dance across the island, Life is Dance.

Festival Gala Reception, Garden Cinema, Wednesday 18 March, from 6.00/6.30pm

Tickets are now available for the Festival Gala Reception which includes a welcome drink, the official Festival poster created by two young Cuban designers, greetings from Festival patrons as well as other special guests, live Cuban music plus screening of the film Up to a Point. The screening begins 6pm/6.30pm. You will be allocated your start time. Very limited tickets for this special reception and screening, which will raise funds for the Festival and Cuban Film Institute, are available now priced £25.

The Festival celebrates Cuba’s remarkable home grown cinema industry, despite the US blockade which has impacted deeply, and also aims to raise funds for projects of the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC), such as the restoration of classic films.
